How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT: 

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard Voltage

    11 to 14 V

    • If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. DIAGNOSTIC QUESTIONING AND SYMPTOM CONFIRMATION 
    1. Ask the customer about symptoms and confirm malfunctions.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Other symptoms. A
      The screen displays nothing. B

      B → GO TO STEP   6 

      A: Go to next step 

  4. OPERATION CHECK 
    1. Refer to Check System Normal Condition. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Symptom is not normal operation. A
      Symptom is normal operation. B

      B → SYMPTOM IS NORMAL OPERATION 

      A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Check for DTC output. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output. A
      CAN DTC is output. B

      B → GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 

      A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output. A
      DTC is not output. B

      HINT: 

      If more information is needed, perform a check using the "System Check Mode" screen after checking for DTCs using the Intelligent tester.

      B → Go to step   10 

      A: Go to next step 

  7. DTC CLEAR* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      HINT: 

      The current DTCs may not indicate actual malfunctions depending on the vehicle operating conditions.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. RECHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output. A
      DTC is not output. B

      HINT: 

      • Even if the malfunction symptom is not confirmed, check for DTCs. This is because the system stores history DTCs.
      • If more information is needed, perform a recheck using the "System Check Mode" screen after rechecking for DTCs using the Intelligent tester.
      • Check for DTCs and inspect the area code indicates.

      B → Go to step   10 

      A: Go to next step 

  9. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
    1. Find the output code in Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
      NOTE:
      • The navigation system outputs DTCs for the following systems.
      • When DTCs other than those in Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart for the navigation system are output, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart for the system.
      • Audio and visual system (w/ navigation system). Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR
      • Rear seat entertainment system (w/ rear seat entertainment system). Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR
      • Wide view front monitor system (w/ wide view front monitor system). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
      • Side monitor system (w/ Side monitor system). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs for the navigation system are output. A
      DTCs for the audio and visual system (w/ navigation system) are output. B
      DTCs for the rear seat entertainment system (w/ rear seat entertainment system) are output. C
      DTCs for the wide view front monitor system (w/ wide view front monitor system) D
      DTCs side monitor system (w/ Side monitor system) E

      A → Go to step   13 

      B → GO TO AUDIO AND VISUAL SYSTEM (w/ Navigation System). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

      C → GO TO REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

      D → GO TO WIDE VIEW FRONT MONITOR SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

      E → GO TO SIDE MONITOR SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

  10. CHECK HARD DISK DRIVE 
    1. Enter the "Failure Diagnosis" screen. Refer to Check Hard Disk Drive in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      "OK" is displayed.

      NG → REPLACE HARD DISK DRIVE. Refer to  REMOVAL  . 

      OK: Go to next step 

  11. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    1. Refer to Problem Symptoms Table. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Fault is not listed in Problem Symptoms Table. A
      Fault is listed in Problem Symptoms Table. B

      HINT: 

      If the symptom does not recur and no DTC is output, perform the symptom reproduction method. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      B → Go to step   13 

      A: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK ECU TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT BASED ON MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM 
    1. Refer to Terminals of ECU. Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK CIRCUIT 
    1. Adjust, repair or replace as necessary.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  14. RECHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE 

    HINT: 

    After clearing DTCs, recheck for DTCs.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  15. PERFORM CONFIRMATION TEST 

    NEXT → END
