System Description

  1. GENERAL 
    1. This system has a front television camera assembly to display an image of the area in front of the vehicle on the multi-display.
    2. This system consists of the following components:
      1. Front television camera assembly
      2. Parking assist ECU
      3. Multi-display
      4. Hybrid vehicle control ECU
      5. Skid control ECU
      6. No. 1 pattern select switch assembly
    3. This system is equipped with a self-diagnosis system, which is operated on a designated window that appears on the multi-display, just as in the navigation system.
  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS 
    1. The parking assist ECU controls the system by using information from the following components.
      Item Function
      Front Television Camera Assembly
      • Mounted on the front grill to transmit an image of the area in front of the vehicle to the parking assist ECU.
      • Has a color video camera that uses a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and a wide-angle lens.
      Parking Assist ECU
      • Transmits video signals, which contain a composite consisting of an image of the area in front of the vehicle taken with the front television camera, to the multi-display.
      • Performs overall control of the system by receiving signals from the main switch and the display and navigation module display.
      Multi-display Receives the video signals containing a composite of an image of the area in front of the vehicle from the parking assist ECU, and displays them on the display panel.
      Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Sends the shift state signal to the parking assist ECU through CAN communication.
      Skid Control ECU Sends a vehicle speed signal to the parking assist ECU through CAN communication.
      No. 1 Pattern Select Switch Assembly Turns the wide view front monitor on/off.
  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION 
    1. The wide view front monitor on/off signal is sent from the No. 1 pattern select switch assembly to the parking assist ECU.

      After receiving the wide view front monitor on signal, the parking assist ECU switches the display signal for the multi-display from the navigation system to the wide view front monitor system.

  4. DISPLAY CONDITIONS FOR FRONT MONITOR DISPLAY

      1. After the display conditions are met while the wide view front monitor system is operating normally (when no DTCs are output), the front monitor display will be displayed when in both manual and automatic display mode.

        HINT: 

        On the front monitor display, display mode is as indicated below according to the operation of the automatic mode display button.

    2. Display conditions for manual display mode

      *1 Shift state other than reverse (R) selected

      1. The wide view front monitor system changes the displayed image when the No. 1 pattern select switch assembly is operated while the following conditions are met and the power switch is on (READY) (when no DTCs are output).
        Automatic Mode Display Button Multi Display Screen Shift State Vehicle Speed Screen Transition (due to No. 1 pattern select switch assembly operation)
        OFF Navigation display etc. Other than R 12 km/h (7.5 mph) or less Navigation display etc. → Front monitor display
        OFF Rear view monitor display R 12 km/h (7.5 mph) or less No change

        HINT: 

        When reverse (R) has been selected, the No. 1 pattern select switch assembly operation is invalid.

    3. Display conditions for automatic display mode
      1. In automatic display mode, the wide view front monitor system automatically changes the displayed image depending on the vehicle conditions while the following conditions are met and the system is operating normally (no DTCs output).

        Stopped → Driving Navigation display etc. Other than P or R 12 km/h (7.5 mph) or less Navigation display etc. → Front monitor display
        Driving → Stopped Navigation display etc. Other than R 10 km/h (6.2 mph) or less Navigation display etc. → Front monitor display

        HINT: 

        Screen changes and screen transition conditions after the screen is automatically changed are the same as those for manual display mode (shift state other than reverse (R) has been selected).

  5. COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OUTLINE 
    1. The components of the wide view front monitor system communicate with each other through the AVC-LAN.
    2. If a short circuit or open circuit occurs in the AVC-LAN, communication is interrupted and the wide view front monitor system will stop functioning.
  6. DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION OUTLINE 
    1. This wide view front monitor system has a diagnostic function displayed in the multi-display. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
    2. The system can check the following items by using the Techstream.
