DTC B2288: Steering Lock Signal Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Check for DTCs 18 to 22 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B2288 is output A
      DTC B2285 is output B
      DTC is not output C

    B → See step   5 

    C → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Check for Steering Lock System DTC.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output. A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK STEERING LOCK 
    1. Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).

      OK

      The steering lock is released.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control ECU / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, turn on and off any of the door courtesy light switches repeatedly at 1.5-second intervals or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle starts.

      POWER SOURCE CONTROL

      Steering Unlock Switch Steering lock condition / ON or OFF ON: Steering is unlocked (Engine switch on (ACC))
      OFF: Steering is locked (Engine switch off)

      OK

      "ON" (Steering is unlocked) and "OFF" (Steering is locked) appear on the screen according to vehicle operating conditions.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → See step   9 

  5. GO TO OTHER FLOWCHART (DTC B2285). Refer to  DTC B2285: Steering Lock Position Signal Circuit Malfunction  
  6. GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART (STEERING LOCK SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  7. GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM (STEERING LOCK CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  8. REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY - Step 1 
  9. REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
