Steering Wheel: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING PAD ATTACHING SCREW 
    1. Install the 2 steering pad attaching screws to the lower steering wheel boss cover.

  2. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel sub-assembly.

    2. Install the 2 screws.

  3. INSTALL SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (w/ Shift Paddle Switch) 
    1. Install the shift paddle switch. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1 for A760E. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1 for A960E).
  4. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE 
  5. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  6. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY  See step  1
  7. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER 
    1. Install the steering shake damper to the steering wheel assembly with the 2 screws.

      Torque: 2.4 N*m (25 kgf*cm, 21 in.*lbf) 

  8. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  9. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

      *1 Matchmark
    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly.
  11. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  12. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  13. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  14. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
  16. INSPECT STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  17. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
