DTC P0116: Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range / Performance Problem: Procedure

CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0116)

Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

Read the DTC.

Result

Display (DTC output)	Proceed to
P0116	A
P0116 and other DTCs	B

HINT:

If any DTCs and other than P0116 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

INSPECT THERMOSTAT
1. Inspect the thermostat. Refer to INSPECTION .
NG → See step 5

OK → See step 3
REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR. Refer to REMOVAL
GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
REPLACE THERMOSTAT. Refer to REMOVAL
