How To Proceed With Troubleshooting [09/2013 - ]

HINT: 

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
    • When troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred.
    • Gather as much information as possible for reference.

      Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases.

    • The following 5 items are important points in problem analysis:
      What Vehicle model, system name
      When Date, time, occurrence frequency
      Where Road conditions
      Under what conditions? Driving conditions, weather conditions
      How did it happen? Problem symptoms

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    1. Measure the battery voltage with the engine switch off.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

      1. If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CABIN 
    1. Check that condensation is not likely to occur in the cabin, and that the temperature is not high or extremely low in the cabin.

      OK

      Condensation is not likely being produced and the temperature is not high or extremely low.

      HINT: 

      • A humid cabin and a rapid change in temperature may lead to condensation. Condensation in the cabin may cause a short circuit.
      • The navigation system may not operate normally when the temperature is -20°C (-4°F) or less, or 65°C (149°F) or higher.

      NG → SET CABIN TO APPROPRIATE TEMPERATURE 

      OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK NAVIGATION SYSTEM NORMAL CONDITION 
    1. Refer to Check System Normal Condition. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Symptom is not normal operation. A
      Symptom is normal operation. B

      B → SYMPTOM IS NORMAL OPERATION 

      A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Check for DTC output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTCs are not output. A
      CAN DTCs are output. B

      B → GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2013 - ] 

      A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are not output.
      (The multi-display displays content.)
      B
      DTCs are not output.
      (The multi-display does not display anything.)
      C

      HINT: 

      If more information is needed, perform a check using the "System Check Mode" screen after checking for DTCs using the Techstream.

      B → Go to step 11 

      C → Go to step 12 

      A: Go to next step 

  8. CLEAR DTC* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .

      HINT: 

      The present DTCs may not indicate actual malfunctions depending on the vehicle operating conditions.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. RECHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Refer to DTC Check/Clear. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are not output. B

      HINT: 

      • Even if the malfunction symptom is not confirmed, check for DTCs. This is because the system stores history DTCs.
      • If more information is needed, perform a recheck using the "System Check Mode" screen after rechecking for DTCs using the Techstream.
      • Check the DTCs and inspect the area that the code indicates.

      B → Go to step 11 

      A: Go to next step 

  10. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
    1. Find the output code in Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] .
      NOTE:
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs for the navigation system are output. A
      DTCs for the audio and visual system are output. B
      DTCs for the rear view monitor system are output C
      DTCs for the parking assist monitor system are output D
      DTCs for the safety connect system are output E

      A → Go to step 14 

      B → GO TO AUDIO AND VISUAL SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] 

      C → GO TO REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] 

      D → GO TO PARKING ASSIST MONITOR SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] 

      E → GO TO SAFETY CONNECT SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] 

  11. CHECK HARD DISC 
    1. Enter the "Failure Diagnosis" screen. Refer to Check Hard Disc in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [09/2013 - ] .

      OK

      "OK" is displayed.

      NG → REPLACE HARD DISC. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 

      OK: Go to next step 

  12. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    1. Refer to Problem Symptoms Table. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Fault is not listed in Problem Symptoms Table. A
      Fault is listed in Problem Symptoms Table. B

      HINT: 

      If the symptom does not recur and no DTCs are output, attempt to reproduce the symptoms. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2013 - ] .

      B → ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

      A: Go to next step 

  13. PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING BASED ON MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM 
    1. Refer to Terminals of ECU. Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [09/2013 - ] .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK CIRCUIT 
    1. Adjust, repair or replace as necessary.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  15. RECHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE* 

    HINT: 

    After clearing DTCs, recheck for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  16. PERFORM CONFIRMATION TEST 

    NEXT → END
