System Description [08/2013 - ]

  1. GENERAL 
    1. To assist the driver with parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle, this system has a rear television camera assembly mounted on the luggage compartment door. The system displays the image on the multi-display assembly.
    2. The rear view monitor system consists of the following components:
      1. Multi-media module receiver assembly
      2. Rear television camera assembly
      3. Multi-display assembly
      4. Main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH)
      5. ECM
  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS 
    1. The multi-media module receiver assembly controls the system by using information from the following components:
      Item Function
      Rear Television Camera Assembly
      • Mounted on the luggage compartment door to transmit an image of the area behind the vehicle to the multi-media module receiver assembly.
      • A color video camera that uses a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and a wide-angle lens.
      Multi-media Module Receiver Assembly
      • Receives video signals, which contain an image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the rear television camera assembly.
      • Performs control of the system by receiving the reverse signal from the main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH).
      Multi-display Assembly
      • Receives video signals from the multi-media module receiver assembly through digital communication cable.
      • Displays the rear view monitor image on the display panel.
      Main Body ECU LH (Cowl Side Junction Block LH) Transmits a reverse signal from the ECM to the multi-media module receiver assembly.
      ECM Transmits a reverse signal to the main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH) through the CAN communication and BEAN communication.
  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION 
    1. The multi-media module receiver assembly receives the reverse signal when the engine switch is on (IG) and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the multi-media module receiver assembly switches to the rear view monitor system.
