Transmission Control Switch Circuit [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H33-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Transmission Control Switch)

    NG → CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H33-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Transmission Control Switch)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Measure the resistance between each terminal of the transmission control switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H33-4 (IG) - H33-5 (S) Shift lever in S, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in S, "+" or "-" 10 kΩ or higher
      H33-3 (SFTU) - H33-2 (E) Shift lever held in "+"
      (Up-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "+" 10 kΩ or higher
      H33-1 (SFTD) - H33-2 (E) Shift lever held in "-"
      (Down-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "-" 10 kΩ or higher

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Control Switch)

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A22-37 (S) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever in S, "+" or "-"
      11 to 14 V
      A22-37 (S) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever not in S, "+" or "-"
      Below 1 V
    5. Turn the engine switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A22-34 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+"
      (Up-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "+" 10 kΩ or higher
      A22-50 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-"
      (Down-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "-" 10 kΩ or higher

      (to ECM)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2014 - ] 
  6. REPLACE LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2014 - ]
