Data List / Active Test [10/2016 - 09/2020]

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    NOTE:

    In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Front Recognition Camera / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Chassis > Front Recognition Camera > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Blockage Status Camera obstruction malfunction status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera obstructed
      OFF: Forward recognition camera not obstructed
      When this item is displayed as "ON", "Front Camera Vision Blocked Clean and Demist Windshield" is displayed on the multi-information display
      Cause: 
      • When the area around the forward recognition camera is dirty or there is foreign matter (fogging, condensation, frost, etc.)
      • The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.

      Perform the following inspections 
      • Is a non-genuine Toyota windshield glass installed?
      • Is the front wiper rubber deteriorated?
      • Is there a sticker, accessory, luggage or other object obstructing the forward recognition camera?
      • Is there snow, ice, fogging, dirt, frost, dust or oil film on the windshield glass in front of the forward recognition camera?
      • Are there cracks or scratches on the windshield glass in front of the forward recognition camera?
      • Is a non-genuine Toyota windshield glass installed?
      • Is the vehicle being driven in inclement weather?

        (The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.)

      • Is the inside of the windshield glass dirty?

      Measures: 
      1. If the inside of the windshield glass is dirty, clean it.*
      Blockage History Camera obstruction history status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera obstruction history exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera obstruction history does not exist
      Becomes "ON" when the forward recognition camera was subjected to the following conditions in the past
      • When the area around the forward recognition camera is dirty or there is foreign matter (fogging, condensation, frost, etc.)
      • The forward recognition camera cannot detect the conditions around the vehicle due to darkness, backlighting, snow, fog, etc.
      • The inside of the windshield glass is dirty

      When this item is displayed as "ON", "Front Camera Vision Blocked Clean and Demist Windshield" was being displayed on the multi-information display
      Measures: 
      1. If the inside of the windshield glass is dirty, clean it.*
      Low Temperature Status Low temperature malfunction status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera low temperature malfunction exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera low temperature malfunction does not exist
      When this item is "ON", "Front Camera Unavailable" is displayed
      If the situation does not improve after using the heater, etc., to increase the temperature around the forward recognition camera, the forward recognition camera may be malfunctioning
      Low Temperature History Low temperature history status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera low temperature history exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera low temperature history does not exist
      The temperature around the forward recognition camera was approximately -30°C (-22°F) or less in the past
      When this item is displayed as "ON", "Front Camera Unavailable" was being displayed on the multi-information display in the past
      High Temperature Status1 High temperature malfunction status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera high temperature malfunction exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera high temperature malfunction does not exist
      When this item is "ON", "Front Camera Unavailable" is displayed
      If the situation does not improve after using the air conditioning, etc., to decrease the temperature around the forward recognition camera for 20 minutes or more, the forward recognition camera may be malfunctioning
      HINT: 
      The temperature of the windshield glass may reach 100°C (212°F) or more in summer
      High Temperature History1 High temperature history status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera high temperature history exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera high temperature history does not exist
      The temperature around the forward recognition camera was approximately 85°C (185°F) or more in the past
      When this item is displayed as "ON", "Front Camera Unavailable" was being displayed on the multi-information display in the past
      HINT: 
      The temperature of the windshield glass may reach 100°C (212°F) or more in summer
      High Temperature Status2 High temperature malfunction status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera high temperature malfunction exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera high temperature malfunction does not exist
      When this item is "ON", the temperature around the forward recognition camera is approximately 65°C (149°F) or more
      If the situation does not improve after using the air conditioning, etc., to decrease the temperature around the forward recognition camera for 20 minutes or more, the forward recognition camera may be malfunctioning
      HINT: 
      The temperature of the windshield glass may reach 100°C (212°F) or more in summer
      High Temperature History2 High temperature history status ON or OFF ON: Forward recognition camera high temperature history exists
      OFF: Forward recognition camera high temperature history does not exist
      The temperature around the forward recognition camera was approximately 65°C (149°F) or more in the past
      HINT: 
      The temperature of the windshield glass may reach 100°C (212°F) or more in summer
      Backlight Status Backlight Status ON or OFF ON: Driving towards the sun
      OFF: Not driving towards the sun

  2. ACTIVE TEST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Front Recognition Camera / Active Test.
    5. Perform Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      The engine switch must be turned on (IG) to proceed with the Active Test using the Techstream.
