DTC P0705-13: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Open; DTC P0705-62: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Signal Compare Failure [10/2015 - 09/2018]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (NEUTRAL POSITION SW AND SHIFT SW STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Neutral Position SW and Shift SW Status (P, R, N and D Range).
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Neutral Position SW P or N ON
      Except P or N OFF
      Shift SW Status (P Range) P ON
      Except P OFF
      Shift SW Status (R Range) R ON
      Except R OFF
      Shift SW Status (N Range) N ON
      Except N OFF
      Shift SW Status (D Range) D or M ON
      Except D or M OFF

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SW STATUS (S RANGE)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Shift SW Status (S Range).
    5. Read the Data List displayed on the Techstream.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Shift SW Status (S Range) M ON
      Except M OFF

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [10/2015 - ]

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Inspect the transmission control switch.

      for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

      for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 

    for 2WD: Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    for AWD: Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N50-5 (S) - A78-17 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      N50-5 (S) or A78-17 (S) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

    (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage (for 2WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F48-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Voltage (for AWD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F115-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      for 2WD: Refer to INSPECTION [09/2014 - ]

      for AWD: Refer to INSPECTION [09/2014 - ]

    Result:

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    for 2WD: Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    for AWD: Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (for 2WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F48-4 (B) - F74-106 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F48-7 (DL) - F74-139 (D) Always Below 1 Ω
      F48-9 (NL) - F74-140 (N) Always Below 1 Ω
      F48-1 (RL) - F74-107 (R) Always Below 1 Ω
      F48-6 (PL) - F74-108 (P) Always Below 1 Ω
      F48-4 (B) or F74-106 (NSW) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F48-7 (DL) or F74-139 (D) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F48-9 (NL) or F74-140 (N) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F48-1 (RL) or F74-107 (R) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
