Fail-Safe Chart [09/2014 - 10/2015]

  1. AUTO CANCEL 
    1. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      Vehicle Condition Auto Cancel Condition Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
      • Cruise control indicator light does not blink
      • The master warning light turns on and a "pong" sound is heard.
      • "Check Cruise Control System" is displayed
      • Problem with vehicle speed signal
      • Open or short in stop light switch circuit
      • There is a sensor or driving support ECU destination determination malfunction
      The cruise control main switch is turned on again.
    2. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      • Cruise control indicator light does not blink
      • The master warning light turns on and a "pong" sound is heard.
      • "Check Cruise Control System" is displayed
      • There is problem with millimeter wave radar sensor
      • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor deviates
      The power switch is turned on (IG) again.
    3. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system maintains the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      • The master warning light turns on and a "pong" sound is heard.
      • "Clean Radar Sensor" is displayed
      • There is dirt on millimeter wave radar sensor
      • Wiper switch is in HI position
      • The millimeter wave radar sensor is extremely unstable.
      The condition on the left is recovered from (RESUME operation is possible after recovery) or the cruise control main switch is turned on again.
    4. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is cleared and cruise control operation is canceled, as the vehicle may be excessively loaded or the stored vehicle speed may be too high (constant speed control mode).
      • The actual vehicle speed is below the stored vehicle speed by 16 km/h (10 mph) or more (SET operation is possible).
    5. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is maintained and cruise control operation is canceled (vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode and constant speed control mode).
      • The actual vehicle speed drops below the low speed limit (SET and RESUME operations are possible).
    6. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is cleared and cruise control operation is canceled. Control is prohibited until the cruise control main switch is turned off and then on again.
      • There is a throttle body malfunction.
    7. When the following conditions are met, the stored vehicle speed is cleared and cruise control operation is canceled.

      • The cruise control indicator light turns off.
      • "Cruise Control not available" is displayed
      • There is a stop light switch input circuit malfunction.
      • There is a cancel circuit malfunction.
      The power switch is turned off.
    8. Other operations.
      • When the vehicle stability control system operates during cruise control operation, cruise control operation is canceled (the stored vehicle speed is maintained).
      • The stored vehicle speed is cleared when the power switch is turned off.
