DTC P0102: Mass Air Flow Circuit Low; DTC P0103: Mass Air Flow Circuit High; DTC P010C: Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Low Input; DTC P010D: Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit High Input [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MASS AIR FLOW RATE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTC.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0102, P010C is output A
      DTC P0103, P010D is output B

    Result:  B

  2. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE)

    1. Disconnect the E13 or E22 MAF meter connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E13-3 (+B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E22-3 (+BR) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    Result:  NG

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MASS AIR FLOW METER - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the E13 or E22 MAF meter connector.
    2. Disconnect the E1 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E13-1 (VG) - E1-25 (VG) Always Below 1 Ω
      E13-2 (E2G) - E1-24 (E2G) Always Below 1 Ω
      E22-1 (VGR) - E1-23 (VG2) Always Below 1 Ω
      E22-2 (EVGR) - E1-32 (E2G2) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E13-1 (VG) or E1-25 (VG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E22-1 (VGR) or E1-23 (VG2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  OK

    OK

  4. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER 
    1. Inspect the mass air flow meter, referring to the On-vehicle Inspection for Mass Air Flow Meter (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [09/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the mass air flow meter, referring to the Inspection for Mass Air Flow Meter (Refer to INSPECTION [09/2015 - ] ).
    3. Inspect the function of the mass air flow meter.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / MAF Sensor 1 or MAF Sensor 2.
      5. Start the engine.
      6. Check that the MAF value changes when the engine is raced.

        OK

        The reading changes.

        HINT: 

        Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - ] ).

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPLACE MASS AIR FLOW METER (BANK 1 OR BANK 2) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  5. INSPECT ECM (SENSOR GROUND)

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-24 (E2G) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-32 (E2G2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - ] ).

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE MASS AIR FLOW METER (BANK 1 OR BANK 2) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG

    NG

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MASS AIR FLOW METER - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the E13 or E22 MAF meter connector.
    2. Disconnect the E1 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E13-2 (E2G) - E1-24 (E2G) Always Below 1 Ω
      E22-2 (EVGR) - E1-32 (E2G2) Always Below 1 Ω

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MASS AIR FLOW METER - EFI FUSE)

    1. Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room No. 2 relay block.
    2. Disconnect the E13 or E22 MAF meter connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EFI fuse (2) - E13-3 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      EFI fuse (2) - E22-3 (+BR) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EFI fuse (2) or E13-3 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      EFI fuse (2) or E22-3 (+BR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    (Refer to ECM Power Source Circuit [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG
