  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO MISFIRE DTCS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0300-00, P0300-27, P0300-85, P0301-00, P0302-00, P0303-00 and/or P0304-00 are output A

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P0300-00, P0300-27, P0300-85, P0301-00, P0302-00, P0303-00 and/or P0304-00 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Misfire RPM and Misfire Load.

  5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (PROHIBIT THE CATALYST OT MISFIRE PREVENT FUEL CUT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Prohibit the Catalyst OT Misfire Prevent Fuel Cut.

      Powertrain > Engine > Active Test

    5. Perform the Active Test.
      NOTE:

      When performing the Active Test, make sure the vehicle is stopped and the engine is either idling or being revved within 3000 rpm.

  6. CHECK MISFIRE COUNT OF PORT INJECTION 
    1. Start the engine and warm it up.
    2. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the Injection Mode / Port / Data List / Injection Mode and Misfire Count Cylinder #1 to Misfire Count Cylinder #4.

      HINT:

      • Do not switch from "Direct" to "Port". When performing the inspection more than once, after the Active Test ends, lightly race the engine, and then perform the inspection from "Port" again.
      • If the display does not switch from "Port" even after lighting racing the engine, idle the engine for approximately 1 minute, and then lightly race the engine.
    3. Read each value for Misfire Count Cylinder #1 to Misfire Count Cylinder #4 and Injection Mode displayed on the Techstream. If no misfire counts occur in any cylinders, perform procedure [A] and [B] and then check the misfire counts again.
      1. Drive the vehicle with the Misfire RPM and Misfire Load noted in the "Read Value Using Techstream (Misfire RPM and Misfire Load)" procedures above [A].
      2. Read the Injection Mode and Misfire Count Cylinder #1 to Misfire Count Cylinder #4 or DTCs displayed on the Techstream [B].

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the Injection Mode / Direct / Data List / Injection Mode and Misfire Count Cylinder #1 to Misfire Count Cylinder #4.

    4. Start the engine and warm it up.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Injection Mode, Misfire Count Cylinder #1 to Misfire Count Cylinder #4, Misfire RPM and Misfire Load.

  17. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Engine Speed, Mass Air Flow Sensor and Coolant Temperature.

    5. Allow the engine to idle until Coolant Temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or higher.

  18. CHECK VALVE TIMING (CHECK FOR LOOSE TIMING CHAIN AND JUMPED TEETH) 
    1. Remove the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

    2. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with the "0" timing mark of the timing chain cover.
    3. Check that the timing marks of the camshaft timing gear assembly and camshaft timing exhaust gear assembly are at the positions shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      If the timing marks are not at the positions shown, turn the crankshaft one revolution clockwise.

    1. Check the connection and terminal contact pressure of connectors and wire harnesses between the mass air flow meter sub-assembly and ECM.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      • Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

  25. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
