DTC C1299/99: Cancellation of 4WD Control [09/2014 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TIRE CONDITION 
    1. Check the size and condition of all 4 tires.

      Refer to INSPECTION [09/2014 - 09/2020]

      HINT: 

      DTC C1299/99 is stored when tire deformation or a difference in tire size is detected.

      OK

      The diameter and air pressure of all 4 tires are the same.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TIRES SO THAT ALL 4 TIRES ARE SAME IN SIZE 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2017 - 09/2020]

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Clear DTCs 

    3. Start the engine.
    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check that no brake control system DTCs are stored.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2017 - 09/2020]

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Brake control system DTCs are not stored. A
      Brake control system DTCs are stored. B

    Result: 

    REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2014 - 10/2015]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2015 - 11/2017]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2017 - 10/2018]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2018 - 09/2020]

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (WHEEL SPEED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Four Wheel Drive / Data List
    4. Check that the speed values detected at all four wheels displayed on the Techstream are the same when driving the vehicle.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Data List

  4. CHECK RELATED PART 
    1. Inspect the suspension and ball joints for looseness.

      OK

      There is no looseness in the suspension and ball joints.

    2. Inspect the driveshaft and propeller shaft rotation condition.

      OK

      The drive shaft and propeller shaft rotate smoothly.

      Result

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    Result:

  5. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 10/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - 09/2020]

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Clear DTCs 

    3. Start the engine.
    4. Drive the vehicle, accelerating to a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check if the same DTC is stored.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 10/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - 09/2020]

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is stored. A
      DTC is not stored. B

    Result: 

    CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.   6. REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the 4WD ECU assembly.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [09/2014 - ]

      NOTE:

      When the 4WD ECU assembly is replaced with a new one, it is not necessary to perform initialization.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2014 - ]

  7. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 10/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - 09/2020]

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Clear DTCs 

    3. Start the engine.
    4. Drive the vehicle, accelerating to a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check if the same DTC is stored.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 10/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - 09/2020]

    REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]  , or refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2017 - 11/2021]

    CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.
