  1. SYSTEM FUNCTION
    Function Outline
Push-button start function When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought into the vehicle and verified, this function changes the power source or starts the engine when the engine switch and brake pedal are operated.*1
Battery saving function for vehicle When the vehicle is not used for a long time, this function extends the interval between each periodic transmission of the request signal, or stops transmission of the request signal to save vehicle battery power.
    • When 5 days elapse without a response from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, periodic transmission stops.
    • When 14 days elapse without a response from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, the lock/unlock sensors of all door outside handle assemblies except the driver door are disabled.

When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is left in a detection area for 10 minutes or more, the smart access system with push-button start automatically deactivates the exterior detection area the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in.
Transmitter battery saving function for key If a switch on the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is depressed and held, this function stops transmission of the signal after approximately 20 seconds to save transmitter battery power.
    Transmitter battery saving mode function
    • If the unlock switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed twice while the lock switch is being pressed, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly LED blinks 4 times and enters transmitter battery saving mode.
    • The smart access system with push-button start does not operate while in transmitter battery saving mode.
    • If a button of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed, transmitter battery saving mode will be canceled.
Key cancel function Cancels the smart access system with push-button start when certain operations are performed.
Immobiliser function Allows the engine to be started only using registered electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies to prevent an unauthorized engine start.
    Automatic power off function
    • With the shift lever in P and the engine switch on (ACC) (the engine is not started and the vehicle is not moving), the power automatically turns off when the vehicle is left as is for 20 minutes or more.
    • With the shift lever in P and the engine switch on (IG) (the engine is not started and the vehicle is not moving), the power automatically turns off when the vehicle is left as is for 60 minutes or more.
Remote service function (remote engine start)*2 Sends remote air conditioner with remote start operation signals requested by the user using an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly or application to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

    HINT:

    • *1: If an emergency stop was performed (the engine switch was pressed quickly three times or more, or pressed and held for 2 seconds or more) while driving, the engine can be started again if driving at more than 10 km/h, by moving the shift lever to N and pressing the engine switch.
    • *2: w/ Lexus Enform Remote

      1. When using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, perform either of the following operations:
        1. Press the unlock switch.
        2. Press and hold the lock switch.

        HINT:

The engine will stop when any of the following conditions is met:

        • Any door is opened.
        • The engine hood is opened.
        • The engine switch is pressed.
        • A stop request is received from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly or Service Center.
        • The theft deterrent system enters the alarm sounding state.
        • The battery voltage drops to less than 11 V.
        • 10 minutes elapse after the engine is started.
        • The cumulative engine running time after being started by remote engine start and stop is 20 minutes or more.
        • The shift lever is moved to a position other than P.
        • The vehicle speed is 5 km/h or more.
        • The stop lights illuminate or its condition cannot be determined.

  3. DETECTION AREA
    NOTE:
    • Depending on the vehicle body shape, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not operate in certain locations.
    • Even if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the vehicle exterior key detection area, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not be properly detected if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is near a window, door handle or the center of the rear bumper.
    • Even if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the vehicle interior key detection area, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not be properly detected if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is on the instrument panel, in the glove box or on the floor.
    • Depending on the way the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is held, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not operate properly.
    • The key detection area may reduce in size or the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not be properly detected under the following conditions:
      • The transmitter battery is depleted.
      • There are TV towers, electric power plants, broadcasting stations, gas stations or other facilities that generate strong radio waves or electrical noise nearby.
      • Electronic devices such as cell phones, etc. are carried with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
      • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is covered by or in contact with a metal object.
      • A radio wave type keyless entry system or wireless remote is operated nearby.
      • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is placed near high-voltage equipment or equipment that emits electrical noise.
    1. The request signal sent from the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is transmitted from each electrical key antenna (outside) to form the key detection area. The detection area formed by each electrical key antenna (outside) has a detection range of 0.7 to 1 m (2.30 to 3.28 ft.) from the door handles and rear bumper (electrical key antenna (outside luggage compartment)).
    2. When the vehicle is parked (the power source mode is off and the doors are locked*), the detection area of each electrical key antenna (outside) is formed by emitting a periodic request signal every 0.25 seconds in order to detect the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. Also, when the doors are locked and a lock sensor is touched, a request signal is emitted, the detection area outside the vehicle is formed and the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is detected.

      HINT:

*: The smart access system with push-button start controls each door individually. After a door is locked with the door lock switch or wireless remote control function, a detection area is formed at the locked door even if all the doors are not locked.

    3. The detection area of the electrical key antenna (outside luggage compartment) is formed when the luggage door opening switch assembly is pressed.
    4. The detection area inside the vehicle is formed and the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is detected when any of the following conditions are met: 1) The driver door is opened and closed, 2) the brake pedal is depressed, 3) the engine switch is operated, 4) the conditions required for various warnings are met, or 5) an entry door lock operation is performed.
    5. The detection area inside the vehicle when starting the engine can be customized through the customize function.
