Diagnosis System [09/2015 - 08/2019]

  1. DESCRIPTION 

    Dynamic torque control AWD system data and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be read through the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform repairs.

  2. CHECK DATA LINK CONNECTOR 3 (DLC3) 
    1. Check the DLC3.

      Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION [09/2015 - ]

  3. FUNCTION OF AWD WARNING 
    1. The AWD warning message displayed on the multi-information display warns the driver if the condition of dynamic torque control AWD system is poor or abnormal.
    2. If the 4WD ECU assembly detects a malfunction, the master warning light illuminates and the multi-information display displays warning messages to warn the driver in accordance with malfunction.

      HINT: 

      Check that the master warning light illuminates for approximately 4 seconds.

  4. CHECK MASTER WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and check that the master warning light comes on for approximately 4 seconds.

      HINT: 

      The master warning light goes off while the system is in DTC output mode.

  5. CHECK AWD WARNING 
    1. Check AWD warning.
      1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3 (to enter diagnostic mode).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Read the output of the multi-information display.

        HINT: 

        • Although the test mode is not set for the dynamic torque control AWD system, the message is displayed on the multi-information display when the test mode is activated for checking the VSC, etc.
        • During diagnosis, "DIAG AWD" is displayed on the multi-information display.
        • If the dynamic torque control AWD system is normal, "DIAG AWD FF" is displayed on the multi-information display.
        • If a malfunction in the dynamic torque control AWD system is detected, "DIAG AWD XX (DTC)" is displayed on the multi-information display.
        • DTCs are explained in "DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART".

          Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2015 - 08/2019] 

        • If the normal system code ("DIAG AWD FF") or stored DTCs are not displayed on the multi-information display, perform the following troubleshooting procedures.

  6. CHECK AWD LOCK MODE INDICATOR LIGHT 
    1. Check AWD lock mode indicator light.
      1. When the engine switch is turned on (IG), check that the AWD lock mode indicator light illuminates and goes off within approximately 4 seconds.

        HINT: 

        If the AWD lock mode indicator light does not illuminate, check for combination meter assembly and CAN communication system DTCs, since the 4WD ECU assembly and combination meter assembly are connected by the CAN communication line.

        If the AWD lock mode indicator light does not illuminate, perform relevant troubleshooting procedures. The relevant troubleshooting procedures are in appropriate service information listed in the table below.
