DTC P0705-13: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Open; DTC P0705-62: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Signal Compare Failure [10/2017 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (NEUTRAL POSITION SW AND SHIFT SW STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Neutral Position SW, Shift SW Status (P Range), Shift SW Status (R Range), Shift SW Status (N Range), Shift SW Status (N, P Range) and Shift SW Status (D Range).

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Neutral Position SW
      Shift SW Status (P Range)
      Shift SW Status (R Range)
      Shift SW Status (N Range)
      Shift SW Status (N, P Range)
      Shift SW Status (D Range)
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Neutral Position SW P or N ON
      Except P or N OFF
      Shift SW Status (P Range) P ON
      Except P OFF
      Shift SW Status (R Range) R ON
      Except R OFF
      Shift SW Status (N Range) N ON
      Except N OFF
      Shift SW Status (N, P Range) P or N ON
      Except P or N OFF
      Shift SW Status (D Range) D or M ON
      Except D or M OFF

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SW STATUS (S RANGE)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Shift SW Status (S Range).

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Shift SW Status (S Range)
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Shift SW Status (S Range) M ON
      Except M OFF

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [10/2017 - ]

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Inspect the transmission control switch.

      for 2WD models: Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - ]

      for AWD models: Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)

    OK

  4. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)

    (to Transmission Control Switch)
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K80-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K80-5 (S) - A106-17 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      K80-5 (S) or A106-17 (S) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

    (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      for 2WD models: Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - ]

      for AWD models: Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - ]

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-4 (B) - F102-106 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F54-7 (DL) - F102-139 (D) Always Below 1 Ω
      F54-9 (NL) - F102-140 (N) Always Below 1 Ω
      F54-1 (RL) - F102-107 (R) Always Below 1 Ω
      F54-6 (PL) - F102-108 (P) Always Below 1 Ω
      F54-4 (B) or F102-106 (NSW) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F54-7 (DL) or F102-139 (D) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F54-9 (NL) or F102-140 (N) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F54-1 (RL) or F102-107 (R) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F54-6 (PL) or F102-108 (P) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
