Diagnosis System [10/2018 - 09/2020]

  1. DESCRIPTION 

    Four wheel drive control system data can be read through the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform repairs. Therefore when there seems to be a problem with the four wheel drive control system, use the Techstream or SST to check and troubleshoot it.

  2. CHECK DATA LINK CONNECTOR 3 (DLC3) 
    1. Inspect the battery voltage.

      Standard Voltage

      11 to 14 V

      If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge the battery before proceeding.

    2. Check the DLC3.

      Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION [09/2014 - ]

  3. FUNCTION OF AWD WARNING 
    1. If a malfunction occurs during system operation, "Check AWD System" will be displayed on the multi-information display to inform the driver of the system malfunction.

      HINT: 

      Check that the master warning light comes on for approximately 4 seconds.

  4. CHECK MASTER WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and check that the master warning light comes on for approximately 3 seconds.

      HINT: 

      The master warning light goes off while the system is in DTC output mode.

  5. CHECK AWD WARNING 
    1. Check AWD warning.
      1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3 (to enter DTC output mode).

        • SST: 09843-18040 
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. "DIAG AWD" is displayed on the multi-information display, and the 4WD ECU assembly checks the system for malfunctions.
        • If the AWD control system is normal, "DIAG AWD FF" will be displayed on the multi-information display.
        • If the AWD control system is not normal, "DIAG AWD XX (DTC)" will be displayed on the multi-information display.
        • Although Test Mode is not set for the AWD control system, a message will be displayed on the multi-information display when Test Mode is activated for checking the VSC, etc.

        HINT: 

        • Test mode DTCs will not be stored because test mode is not set.
        • If the systems above are not displayed on the multi-information display, there may be a malfunction in the TC and CG terminal circuit.

        • If the AWD warning check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting for the AWD warning circuit.

  6. FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION 
    1. If the following malfunctions occur, the 4WD ECU assembly will stop or partially change the AWD control system function.
      Malfunction Control
      Malfunction in a speed sensor System function is stopped
      Malfunction in the steering sensor and throttle signal line System function is partially changed
