- CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU
- Disconnect the G38 and G39 connectors.
- Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Terminal No. (Symbol) Input/Output Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition Related Data List Item G38-2 (STA) - Body ground Input W - Body ground Determines whether engine is being started by monitoring starter relay activation voltage from terminal STAR during engine start 20°C (68°F) 93.8 to 136.4 Ω - G38-3 (STAR) - Body ground Output B - Body ground Starter relay activation output - Outputs starter relay activation voltage (12 V) when engine is being started. Outputs for maximum of 30 seconds. Turns off when engine speed is 500 rpm or more for 500 milliseconds or more.
- When engine switch is on (IG), monitors whether park/neutral position switch is on (shift lever in P or N) or off (shift lever not in P or N). Outputs 12 V through large resistance in ECM. When park/neutral position switch is on, terminal STAR voltage is low (approximately 0.5 V) due to voltage division with starter relay coil resistance (small). When park/neutral position switch is off, terminal STAR voltage is high (approximately 10.5 V).
HINT:

- *1: When the shift lever is in P and the engine switch is off, if any door is opened or closed, the steering is locked. When the key is inside the vehicle and the engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG), the steering unlocks.
- *2: When the engine is cranking, the battery voltage may momentarily drop to approximately 6 V.
- *3: The steering lock motor operates when the following conditions are met and a door is opened:
- The shift lever is in P.
- While carrying the key, the engine switch is turned on (IG) to unlock the steering, and then the engine switch is turned off.
- Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the ECU.
