How To Proceed With Troubleshooting [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

  2. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Measure the voltage of the auxiliary battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

      HINT: 

      If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step.

  3. CHECK DTC, FREEZE FRAME DATA AND VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY* 
    1. Check DTCs and freeze frame data.
      1. Check and record DTCs.

        Chassis > EMPS > Trouble Codes 

      2. Check and record freeze frame data.

        Refer to FREEZE FRAME DATA [10/2023 - ] 

    2. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      Chassis > EMPS > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs.

      Chassis > EMPS > Trouble Codes 

      1. Reproduce the problem symptoms based on the recorded DTCs and freeze frame data, and then check if the DTCs are output again.

        HINT: 

        • When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, first troubleshoot and repair the CAN communication system.
        • If the Techstream cannot communicate with the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly, check CAN communication between the DLC3 and the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly, and also check the IG circuit of the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.
    4. Check the vehicle control history (RoB).

      Refer to VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) [10/2023 - ]

      DTC is not output and problem symptoms cannot be reproduced and confirmed C
      DTC is not output and vehicle control history (RoB) is output D

    Result: 

    REFER TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART, PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING ACCORDING TO PROCEDURE FOR EACH DTC AND GO TO STEP 7 

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIRS RELATED TO VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) 

    Refer to VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) [10/2023 - ]

    NOTE:

    After performing troubleshooting and repairs related to the vehicle control history (RoB), clear the vehicle control history (RoB).
