Pattern Select Switch EV Mode Circuit [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check if a buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when attempting to enter EV mode.

      Result

      No buzzer sounded and no message was displayed on multi-information display. A
      A buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on multi-information display. B

      HINT: 

      If a buzzer sounds and a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV mode entry conditions have not been met. Check that all of the EV mode entry conditions have been met before pressing the EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly).

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    w/ Front LiDAR Sensor: Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2023 - ]

    w/o Front LiDAR Sensor: Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2023 - ]

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2023 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (EV MODE, EV MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / EV Mode, EV Mode Switch.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      EV Mode
      EV Mode Switch
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

      EV Mode EV mode transition availability ON or OFF In EV mode: ON
      EV Mode Switch EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) condition ON or OFF EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) not pushed: OFF

    6. Turn the power switch off.

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2023 - ]

  5. INSPECT EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Inspect the EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly).

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G5 EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to EV Mode Switch (Integration Control & Panel Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G5-17 (E) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the G5 EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the G166 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G5 EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G166-33 (EVSW) - G5-5 (S) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      G166-33 (EVSW) or G5-5 (S) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the G5 EV mode switch (integration control & panel assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the G166 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]
