Removal [10/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2015 - ]

  2. CHANGE POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM SETTINGS 
    1. Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize settings.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2015 - ]

      NOTE:

      Record the current customize setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      HINT: 

      Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the power switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
  3. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  6. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 screws.

      Push Area
      Push in this direction

      While pressing the push area shown in the illustration to disengage the 2 claws, slightly lower the lower steering column cover.

  7. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and separate the upper steering column cover.

      Separate in this direction

      Disengage the 6 clips to remove the upper steering column cover.

  8. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
    • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. Disconnect each connector from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Remove in this direction

      Disengage the 3 claws to remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.

  9. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  10. REMOVE REMOTE TOUCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2015 - 08/2019]

  11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2015 - 12/2017]

  12. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [10/2015 - 12/2017]

  13. REMOVE BACK-UP BATTERY WITH BRACKET (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [10/2015 - 12/2017]

  14. REMOVE CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2015 - 12/2017]

  15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [10/2015 - 12/2017]

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 38 [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  17. REMOVE NO. 4 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt.

      Disengage the 3 claws to remove the No. 4 air duct sub-assembly.

  18. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  19. SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - ]

  20. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Loosen the bolt.

    2. Remove the bolt and slide the steering intermediate shaft assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.

      *a Matchmark
    3. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly.
    4. Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.
  21. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Disengage the clamp.
    3. Disconnect each connector and disengage each wire harness clamp from the steering column assembly.
    4. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly.
