Steering Wheel is Off-center or Deviates from Neutral Position [12/2017 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TIRE SIZE 
    1. Check all the tires.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All tire sizes are correct and tire pressures are normal A
      Size of any tire is incorrect B
      All tire sizes are correct, but tire pressures are incorrect C

    Result: 

    REPLACE WITH SPECIFIED SIZE TIRE. Refer to  INSPECTION [12/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  INSPECTION [10/2020 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    ADJUST TIRE PRESSURE TO SPECIFIED VALUE. Refer to  INSPECTION [12/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  INSPECTION [10/2020 - 10/2023]

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
    1. Check if a rear wheel alignment adjustment has been performed in the past. Also, if an adjustment has been performed, check if neutral position memorization and motor rotation angle sensor calibration was performed at that time.

      Result

      • A rear wheel alignment adjustment has not been performed.
      • After a rear wheel alignment adjustment was performed, neutral position memorization and motor rotation angle sensor calibration was performed.

    Result: 

    PERFORM DYNAMIC REAR STEERING SYSTEM CALIBRATION. Refer to  CALIBRATION [12/2017 - 10/2023]

  3. PERFORM ACTUATOR FORCED ACTIVATION 
    1. Perform actuator forced activation to forcibly return the actuator to the neutral position.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [12/2017 - 10/2023]

      The rear wheels turn. A
      The rear wheels do not turn. B

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2017 - 10/2023]

  4. CHECK REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 
    1. Check that the rear wheel alignment is correct.

      OK

      The wheel alignment is normal.

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    PERFORM REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT. Refer to  ADJUSTMENT [12/2017 - 09/2018]  , or refer to  ADJUSTMENT [09/2018 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  ADJUSTMENT [10/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  ADJUSTMENT [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK IF STEERING WHEEL IS CENTERED 
    1. Perform a driving test and check whether the steering neutral position is correct.

      OK

      The steering neutral position is correct.
