AWD Control Switch Circuit [10/2014 - 09/2017]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT AWD LOCK MODE INDICATOR LIGHT 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Four Wheel Drive / Active Test
    6. According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      4WD LOCK Light AWD lock mode indicator light Indicator light OFF/ON Observe combination meter assembly
    7. When performing the 4WD LOCK Light Active Test, check 4WD LOCK Light in the Data List.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      4WD LOCK Light AWD lock mode indicator light OFF or ON OFF: AWD lock mode indicator light off
      ON: AWD lock mode indicator light on

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Active Test

      Data List Display
      4WD LOCK Light

      Result

      Proceed to
      Changes between ON and OFF
      Does not change between ON and OFF

    Result: 

    Does not change between ON and OFF 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 05/2019] 

    Result: 

    Changes between ON and OFF

  2. INSPECT NO. 2 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Remove the AWD lock mode switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]

    3. Inspect the AWD lock mode switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly).

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - 09/2017]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I37-17 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Reinstall the AWD lock mode switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly).

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2014 - ]

    2. Disconnect the I55 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      I55-10 (4WDS) - Body ground Switch pressed and held Below 1 Ω
      Switch released 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 05/2019]
