System Description [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  1. ASC SYSTEM
    1. The ASC system uses a stereo component equalizer assembly to electronically generate a driving sound. Simulated engine sounds are output from the No. 1 speaker assembly with box.

The simulated engine sounds are calculated based on the vehicle information (driving mode, shift position and accelerator opening angle). The sounds can be turned on and off and the volume can be adjusted via operation of the vehicle sound switch.

    2. The following 2 types of sounds can be output.
      1. Idling Sound
        • When the vehicle is stopped or idling, a sound resembling an audible engine sound is output.
        • When the vehicle is stopped, accelerating at below 10 km/h (6 mph) or decelerating at 8 km/h (5 mph) or less, sound is output.

        IDLING SOUND OUTPUT CONDITIONS

        Item Condition Note
Driving Mode NORMAL or SPORT mode The following conditions must be met:
        • NORMAL mode: When the vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6 mph), idling sound is output.
        • SPORT mode: While driving at 0.1 km/h (0.1 mph) or after turning the power switch on (READY) with the shift lever in P, when the accelerator pedal is depressed and the engine starts, the idling sound is output.
        Shift Position P, R, N, D, S -
Vehicle Speed When accelerating: Below 10 km/h (6 mph)
When decelerating: 8 km/h (5 mph) or less
When the vehicle is determined to be driving at the speeds listed, the idling sound is output.
      2. Driving Sound
        • When the vehicle is being driven, a sound resembling an audible engine sound (including sounds made when shifting gears) is output.
        • When the vehicle is accelerating at 10 km/h (6 mph) or more or decelerating at 8 km/h (5 mph) or more, sound is output.
