INTRODUCTION

Some 2022 model year NX 250 and NX 350 vehicles may exhibit water entry to the vehicle from the HVAC drain hose being disconnected from the air conditioning radiator assembly and/or a grease/oil odor emitting from the vents. These conditions may be caused by paraffin wax leaking from the evaporator and causing the drain hose to expand and/or emitting an odor. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address these conditions.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

• This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date. 
• Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

(1) Essential SST.

1. Is the drain cooler hose detached from the air conditioning radiator assembly and/or a grease/oil odor emitting from the vents?
   • YES  - Continue to step 2.
   • NO  - This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
   NOTE: If there is evidence of water intrusion or a musty smell is present in the vehicle interior, follow the procedures outlined in L-SB-0004-22 Odor Remediation After Water Intrusion,  to remediate the odor and address this concern.
2. Remove the air conditioning radiator assembly and drain cooler hose.

   Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

   • 2022 NX 250 and NX 350:

     Vehicle Interior - Heating/Air Conditioning  - "Heating/Air Conditioning: Air Conditioning Unit (for Gasoline Model): Removal  "

3. Install the NEW air conditioning radiator assembly and drain cooler hose.

   Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

   • 2022 NX 250 and NX 350:

     Vehicle Interior - Heating/Air Conditioning  - "Heating/Air Conditioning: Air Conditioning Unit (For Gasoline Model): Installation  "

4. Confirm the condition no longer exists.
