Registration [12/2021 - ]: Procedure
- VIN (VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER) NOTE:
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be written to a replacement ECM.
HINT:
The VIN is a 17-digit alphanumeric vehicle identification number. The GTS is required to register the VIN.
- DESCRIPTION
HINT:
This registration information consists of 2 parts: Read VIN and Write VIN.
- Read VIN: This procedure allows the VIN stored in the ECM to be read in order to confirm that the 2 VINs, provided with the vehicle and stored in the vehicle ECM, are the same.
- Write VIN: This procedure allows the VIN to be written into the ECM. If the ECM is replaced, or the ECM VIN and vehicle VIN do not match, the VIN can be registered, or overwritten in the ECM by following this procedure.

This function saves or writes the history data stored when the ECM is replaced.
- SAVE HISTORY
HINT:
This function stores the history data saved in the ECM to the GTS.
- Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the GTS on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Heavy Knock History / Save History.
Powertrain > Engine > Utility
Tester Display Heavy Knock History - Store the history data in the GTS according to the GTS screen instructions.
- WRITE HISTORY
HINT:
This function writes the history data stored in the GTS to the ECM.
- Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the GTS on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Heavy Knock History / Write History.

Tester Display Heavy Knock History - Write the history data to the ECM according to the GTS screen instructions.
- SAVE HISTORY
