Precaution [11/2021 - 03/2023]

  1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE (-) AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      HINT: 

      When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

  2. CAUTION REGARDING INTERFERENCE WITH ELECTRONIC DEVICES 
    WARNING:

    As weak radio waves are emitted from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, if a pacemaker is being used, be sure to read the pacemaker instruction manual and the following.

    • People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should keep away from the smart access system with push-button start antennas. The radio waves may affect the operation of such devices. If necessary, the entry function can be disabled. Ask your dealer for details, such as the frequency of radio waves and timing of the emitted radio waves. Then, consult your doctor to see if you should disable the entry function.

      Remote parking antenna: Refer to PARTS LOCATION [11/2021 - 03/2024]

    • User of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its operation under the influence of radio waves. Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medical devices.
    • Ask your dealer for details for disabling the smart access system with push-button start.

    • Front door outside handle assembly (for Front Passenger Door)
    • Rear door outside handle assembly LH
    • Rear door outside handle assembly RH
    • Electrical key antenna (outside luggage compartment)
    • Remote parking antenna assembly*
    Interior antenna
    • No. 1 indoor electrical key antenna assembly (front floor)
    • No. 2 indoor electrical key antenna assembly (rear floor)
    • No. 3 indoor electrical key antenna assembly (inside luggage compartment)

    HINT: 

    The smart access system with push-button start can be disabled by a customize setting.

  3. PRECAUTION WHEN USING GTS 
    1. When the ignition switch is turned off, the DTCs stored in the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator with ECU assembly) will be cleared. Be sure to record any output DTCs immediately.
    2. When using the GTS with the ignition switch off, perform lock and unlock operations using the door control switch of the multiplex network master switch assembly at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins, and then select the vehicle model manually.

      Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access. While using the GTS, periodically perform lock and unlock operations using the door control switch of the multiplex network master switch assembly at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  4. PRECAUTION FOR ACC CUSTOMIZE 
    1. When performing an inspection, make sure that "ACC Customize" is set to "ON" using the multi-display.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2021 - ] 

      HINT: 

      When "ACC Customize" is set to "ON" (ACC supply power enabled), the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) controls the ACC relay on and off. When "ACC Customize" is set to "OFF" (ACC supply power disabled), the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and radio and display receiver assembly control the ACC relay on and off.

      Therefore, inspection conditions and results may differ depending on whether "ACC customize" is set to ON or OFF when inspecting ACC related terminals or the Data List.

  5. PRECAUTIONS FOR AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. If the auxiliary battery became discharged and then was charged or the cable was disconnected and reconnected to the (-) auxiliary battery terminal, the steering lock may not be released and the engine may not be able to be started unless the driver door is opened and closed with the ignition switch off.
    2. After the auxiliary battery is removed and reinstalled, be sure to wait at least 10 seconds before the next engine start. The engine may not start immediately after the auxiliary battery is reinstalled.

      HINT: 

      • After disconnecting and reconnecting a cable to the auxiliary battery, the engine may not start on the first attempt. If this occurs, turn the ignition switch off. The engine will start normally from the second time onward.
      • When a cable to the auxiliary battery is disconnected and reconnected, the power source mode returns to the mode it was in before the cable was disconnected.
  6. PRECAUTION FOR REGISTRATION 
    1. If replacing any of the following parts, refer to Registration.

      1. Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
      2. Steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator with ECU assembly)
      3. ECM
      4. Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly
      5. ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)
      6. Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)
      7. DCM (telematics transceiver)*
        1. *: for Remote Connect Compatible Type
  7. PRECAUTIONS FOR STEERING LOCK / UNLOCK FUNCTION 
    1. After turning the ignition switch off and opening and closing any of the doors, the steering wheel will be locked due to the steering lock function. Operating the engine switch again automatically cancels the steering lock function.
    2. To prevent the steering lock motor from overheating, the motor operation may be suspended if the steering is locked and unlocked repeatedly in a short period of time. In this case, refrain from operating the engine switch. After about 10 seconds, the steering lock motor will resume functioning.
