EGR Control Solenoid

  1. Disconnect vacuum line between EGR valve (on top of exhaust manifold) and EGR solenoid (on cowl). See Figure . With engine running, check vacuum port of EGR solenoid. With an engine speed of 750-800 RPM, there should be no vacuum.
  2. Increase engine speed to 1000-2800 RPM. With the coolant temperature above 122°F (50°C), vacuum should be present. If the EGR solenoid and EGR module check okay, replace vacuum line. If not, replace EGR solenoid.
