Glow Plug Resistance Test

  1. Remove glow plug connector from glow plug module on left side of cowl, in engine compartment. See Fig 1 . Connect one lead of an ohmmeter to the engine block and the other into each terminal in the connector. Record the readings.
    CAUTION: If the glow plug connectors are allowed to ground while the engine is cranking, severe damage may occur to the glow plugs and glow plug module.
  2. With the engine temperature at 70°F (21°C), the resistance of each glow plug will be .3-.6 ohms. If an open circuit condition exists, replace glow plug.
NOTE: When glow plugs are removed or new plugs installed, coat threads with anti-seize compound.
