Boost Pressure Test

  1. Using a Gauge Bar (019-00022 or equivalent), connect a 0-15 psi (0-1 kg/cm2 ) pressure gauge with a "T" connector in altitude/boost compensator line at base of intake plenum. See Fig 1 .

CAUTION: DO NOT  operate engine under full load condition for more than 30 seconds. After test, place transmission in "NEUTRAL" and run at 1000 RPM for 60 seconds to cool transmission.
  2. Under a full load condition (brakes applied and drive wheels off ground), briefly run engine at 2500 RPM. If boost pressure stabilized at 10.6-12.6 psi (.75-.89 kg/cm2 ), system is okay. If not, check wastegate diaphragm, turbocharger, safety pressure regulator, and hoses.
