Steering Shaft Anti-Rattle Clip: Disassembly

  1. Remove steering column. See STEERING COLUMN  . On fixed columns, remove shift tube, turn signal switch and washer/wiper switches. Remove upper steering shaft bearing and lock cylinder housing.
  2. On tilt columns, remove tilt casting. On all models, remove steering shaft assembly from top of lock housing. Mark upper and lower steering shaft mating surface for reassembly reference.
  3. Separate upper steering shaft from lower steering shaft. Remove and discard insulator clips.
