Test F: Power Window Switch Does Not Illuminate

  1. Check Instrument Panel Illumination  - Turn headlight switch to PARK position. If instrument panel illuminates and master window switch does not illuminate, go to next step. If instrument panel illuminates and right window switch does not illuminate, go to step 4). If instrument panel does not illuminate, see INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  2. Check Input To Master Window Switch  - Disconnect master window switch 5-pin connector C522. Turn headlight switch to PARK position. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and master window switch 5-pin connector C522 terminal No. 4 (Red/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Black wire and retest system operation.
  3. Check Master Window Switch Ground Circuit  - Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and master window switch 5-pin connector C522 terminal No. 3 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace master window switch and retest system operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
  4. Check Input To Passenger Door Window Switch  - Disconnect passenger door window switch connector C602. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and passenger door window switch connector C602 terminal No. 5 (Red/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Black wire and retest system operation.
  5. Check Passenger Door Window Switch Ground Circuit  - Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and passenger door window switch connector C602 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace passenger door window switch and retest system operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
