Traction Control Inoperative

  1. Using NGS tester, retrieve ABS DTCs. If any DTCs are set, perform appropriate test for DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  table under RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES. If no DTCs are set, go to next step.
  2. Test drive vehicle and check ABS operation. If ABS operates properly, go to next step. If ABS does not operate properly, diagnose ABS by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
  3. Turn ignition on. Locate message center buttons on right side of instrument cluster. Press SYSTEM button until message center displays TRACTION CONTROL. If message center displays TRACTION CONTROL OFF, enable traction control. If message center displays TRACTION CONTROL ON, go to next step.
  4. Ensure brake pedal is released. Disconnect 25-pin ABS control module connector. Install EEC-IV 60-pin Breakout Box (014-00322). Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between breakout box terminals No. 12 and 8. If voltage is present, diagnose brakelight system. If voltage is not present, replace ABS control module.
