Test G: Automatic Dimming Function Inoperative
- Place transmission in Park. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set inside rear view mirror dimming control to HIGH position. Cover light sensor on rear of inside mirror. Shine bright light on inside mirror. If inside mirror does not darken, go to next step. If inside mirror darkens and driver's mirror does not darken, go to step 7 . If both mirrors darken, system is operating properly at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and inside mirror harness connector C917 Black/Pink wire terminal. If 10 volts or less exists, go to next step. If more than 10 volts exists, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 4 (10-amp) in instrument panel fuse box. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, repair open in Black/Pink wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and inside mirror harness connector C917 Black/Pink wire terminal. On all models, if resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Black/Pink wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace inside mirror.
- Measure resistance between ground and inside mirror harness connector C917 Black wire terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place gear selector in Reverse. Measure voltage between ground and inside mirror harness connector C917 Black/Pink wire terminal. If more than 10 volts exists, replace inside mirror. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Black/Pink wire or reverse light circuit as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect positive voltage to inside mirror harness connector C917 Violet wire and ground Light Blue/White wire terminal. If driver's mirror darkens, go to next step. If driver's mirror does not darken, repair wiring between inside mirror or replace driver's mirror glass as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect driver's mirror 10-pin harness connector C515. Connect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 9 (Light Blue/White wire). If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, go to step 10 .
- Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 9 (Light Blue/White wire). If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Light Blue/White wire. If voltage does not exist, replace inside mirror.
- Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 10 (Violet wire). If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, go to step 12 .
- Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure voltage between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 10 (Violet wire). If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Violet wire. If voltage does not exist, replace inside mirror.
- Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 9 (Light Blue/White wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 14 .
- Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 9 (Light Blue/White wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Blue/White wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace inside mirror and retest.
- Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 10 (Violet wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 16 .
- Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure resistance between ground and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 10 (Violet wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace inside mirror.
- Disconnect inside mirror harness connector C917. Measure resistance in Light Blue/White wire between inside mirror harness connector C917 and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 9. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire.
- Measure resistance in Violet wire between inside mirror harness connector C917 and driver's mirror harness connector C515 terminal No. 10. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace inside mirror. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet wire.
