Test F: Right Front Window Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Right front window control switch harness connector C600 is a flat 4-pin connector. Right front window control switch harness connector C601 is a square 4-pin connector.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, select and monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) PID P_PW_SW. Press and release master window control switch right front window switch in up and down positions several times. If PID agrees with the switch position, go to next step. If PID does not agree with the switch position, replace DDM.
- Attempt to operate right front window from master window control switch. If right front window does not operate properly, go to next step. If right front window operates properly, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect right front window control switch harness connector C600. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and Tan/Light Blue wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600 while pressing master window control switch right front window to up position. Measure voltage between ground and White/Yellow wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600 while pressing master window control switch right front window to down position. Voltage should cycle from zero volts to battery voltage when switch is pressed. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect right front window control switch harness connector C601. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and Pink wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Test right front window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If right front window control switch is okay, go to step 8 . If right front window control switch is defective, replace switch.
- Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure resistance of White/Yellow wire between terminal No. 6 at DDM harness connector C523 and right front window control switch harness connector C600. See Figure . Measure resistance of Tan/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 5 at DDM harness connector C523 and right front window control switch harness connector C600. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Yellow and/or Tan/Light Blue wire. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace DDM.
- Disconnect right front window motor harness connector C614. Measure resistance of Yellow wire between right front window control switch harness connector C601 and right front window motor harness connector C614. Measure resistance of White/Black wire between right front window control switch harness connector C601 and right front window motor harness connector C614. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow and/or White/Black wire. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace right front window motor.
- Disconnect right front window control switch harness connector C600. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and Red/Light Blue wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600. If battery voltage exists, replace right front window control switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire.
- Ensure transmission is in Park. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect mini-fuse No. 8 (30-amp) from battery junction box. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest system operation. If new fuse blows, go to step 12 .
- Measure voltage between ground and input side of mini-fuse No. 8 (30-amp) in battery junction box. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Pink wire. If battery voltage does not exist, replace battery junction box.
- Disconnect right front window control switch harness connector C601. Measure resistance between ground and output side of mini-fuse No. 8 (30-amp) in battery junction box. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink wire.
- Test right front window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If right front window control switch is okay, go to next step. If right front window control switch is defective, replace switch.
- Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure voltage between ground and White/Yellow wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600. Measure voltage between ground and Tan/Light Blue wire terminal right front window control switch harness connector C600. If voltage does not exist at all terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to voltage in White/Yellow and/or Tan/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and White/Yellow wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600. Measure resistance between ground and Tan/Light Blue wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C600. If all resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Yellow and/or Tan/Light Blue wire.
- Connect DDM harness connector C523. Disconnect right front window control switch harness connector C601. Measure voltage between ground and White/Black wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. Measure voltage between ground and Yellow wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. If voltage does not exist at either terminal, go to next step. If voltage exists are either terminal, repair short to voltage in White/Black and/or Yellow wire.
- Disconnect right front window motor harness connector C614. Measure resistance between ground and White/Black wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow wire terminal at right front window control switch harness connector C601. If all resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace right front window motor. If any resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Black and/or Yellow wire.
