Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to the JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. 4x4 vehicles 

  3. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the transfer case.

  4. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the front differential.

  5. Remove the front driveshaft from the vehicle.

  6. All vehicles 

  7. Remove the shift cable and bracket.

  8. Disconnect the HO2S sensor connector from the transmission case.

  9. Disconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor electrical connector.

  10. Remove the OSS sensor.
    1. Remove the OSS sensor screw.
    2. Remove the OSS sensor from the transmission.
      • Inspect the OSS sensor O-ring for damage. If damaged, install a new O-ring.
