The selector lever indicator does not correspond to the gear	Selector lever indicator adjustment	CHECK that the selector lever indicator adjustment is correct. REFER to SELECTOR LEVER INDICATOR ADJUSTMENT in this article. ADJUST the selector lever indicator if necessary. TEST the system for normal operation. If the condition persists, GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
The control linkage is binding	Shift control component(s) Internal transmission component(s)	GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
The gearshift lever will not shift from range	Shift control component(s) Internal transmission component(s)	GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
The selector lever indicator does not illuminate	Instrument cluster	REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PANEL ILLUMINATION .

The transmission control indicator lamp (TCIL) does not illuminate	Instrument cluster PCM	REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
The transmission control indicator lamp (TCIL) is illuminated continuously	Instrument cluster PCM	REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
Rattle, noise, buzz or other noise	Gearshift lever Steering column shrouds	INSPECT the gearshift lever and shrouds for damage and incorrect installation. REPAIR as necessary. REFER to SELECTOR LEVER in this article.
Water enters inside the vehicle	Shift cable rubber grommet	SECURE the grommet to the bulkhead.
Water enters inside the vehicle	Torn shift cable rubber grommet	INSTALL a new shift cable and bracket. REFER to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE AND BRACKET in this article.
