P0218 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Over Temperature Condition Transmission over temperature
NOTE: P0218 will cause the powertrain to limit torque to prevent transmission overheating. The DTC P0218 may set in conjunction with DTC P1783.
CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0218 returns, determine if this DTC was set in conjunction with any transmission fluid temperature sensor circuit DTCs and RESOLVE them first, otherwise, REFER to: Transmission Cooling .
P0657 Actuator Supply Voltage "A" Circuit/Open Transmission solenoid power control Power to all solenoids has been interrupted. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0657 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test F
P0701 Transmission Control System Range/Performance Transmission hydraulic and clutch systems (including non-electrical shift solenoid faults, main control valve body and clutch(s)). Intermittent clutch on fault and may set with DTCs P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703 and/or P2704. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0701 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0702 Transmission Control System Electrical Low or high system voltage INSPECT the PCM power and ground circuits for opens or short to ground. INSPECT the PCM connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires. CLEAR the DTC. RERUN the KOEO and (KOER self-test. If DTC P0702 returns, REFER to: Battery .
P0706 Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance TR sensor The TR sensor outputs a duty cycle indicating manual lever position. This DTC sets when the duty cycle is greater or less than the expected duty cycle by 50Hz or more. Engine may not crank. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0706 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test J
P0707 Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Low TR sensor Engine may not crank, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0707 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test J
P0708 Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit High TR sensor Engine may not crank, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0708 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test J
P0710 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit TFT DTC P0710 may set. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0710 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test G

P0715 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit TSS sensor DTC P0717 may set. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0715 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test K
P0717 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit No Signal TSS sensor DTC P0715 may set. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0717 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test K

P0729 Gear 6 Incorrect Ratio O/D clutch system faults (includes non-electrical SSD faults, main control valve body and clutch) CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0729 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0731 Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio O/D clutch system faults (includes non-electrical SSD faults, main control valve body and clutch) CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0731 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .

P073D Unable to Engage Neutral Shift by wire system The shift by wire system commanded Neutral. The TR sensor is valid but does not indicate Neutral. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The engine will Not Crank if stuck in reverse or drive. No Forward if stuck in park or reverse or No Reverse if stuck in park or drive. The ePRNDL stays on and can drain the battery if the system is stuck in a non-park position. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P073D returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P073E Unable to Engage Reverse Shift by wire system The shift by wire system commanded Reverse. After a period of time the TR sensor is valid but does not indicate Reverse. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The engine will Not Crank if stuck in drive. No reverse engagement. The ePRNDL stays on and can drain the battery if the system is stuck in a non-park position. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P073E returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit/Open TCC solenoid electrical faults DTC P0743 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0740 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test H
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Performance/Stuck Off TCC system faults (includes TCC, main control valve body and non-electrical solenoid faults) P0741 is a non-electrical DTC, that sets when engine RPMwas at least 80 RPMgreater than TSSwhen lock up was commanded 3 consecutive times. REFER to: Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) .
P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Stuck On TCC solenoid electrical faults DTC P0743 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0742 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test H
P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Electrical TCC solenoid electrical faults DTC P0740, P0742 and/or P0744 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0743 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test H

P0750 Shift Solenoid "A" Shift solenoid A (SSA) electrical faults DTC P0751 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0750 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test A
P0751 Shift Solenoid "A" Performance/Stuck Off Forward clutch system faults (includes non-electrical SSA faults, valve body and clutch) DTC P2700 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0751 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .

P0763 Shift Solenoid "C" Electrical SSC electrical faults DTC P0760, P0979 and/or P0980 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0763 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test C

P0765 Shift Solenoid "D" SSD electrical faults DTC P0766 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0765 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test D
P0766 Shift Solenoid "D" Performance/Stuck Off SSD electrical faults DTC P2704 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0766 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0767 Shift Solenoid "D" Stuck On O/D clutch system faults (includes non-electrical SSD faults, valve body and clutch) DTC P07A9 and/or P2704 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0767 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0768 Shift Solenoid "D" Electrical SSD electrical faults DTC P0765, P0982 and/or P0983 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0768 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test D
P0769 Shift Solenoid "D" Intermittent SSD electrical faults CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0769 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test D
P0770 Shift Solenoid "E" Shift solenoid E (SSE) electrical faults DTC P0773 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0770 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test E
P0771 Shift Solenoid "E" Performance/Stuck Off SSE non-electrical faults (SSE and main control valve body) SSE controls the multiplexing of SSD low/reverse and overdrive clutch. If the solenoid fails off (no pressure) or the clutch bypass valve sticks in the default position then there may be no reverse engagement and 4th gear drive away. This DTC indicates either: SSE mechanically failed off (no pressure) or the clutch bypass valve is stuck in default position. Inspect the clutch bypass valve and bore for contamination. OVERHAUL or INSTALL a new main control as required. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . If no concerns are found in the main control, INSTALL a new SSE.
P0772 Shift Solenoid "E" Stuck On SSE non-electrical faults (SSE and valve body) SSE controls the multiplexing of SSD low/reverse and overdrive clutch. If the solenoid fails on (pressure) then, 1st and 2nd gear are the only available gears. 3rd and 4th gears are failed to 1st gear, 5th gear is failed to neutral, and 6th gear is a tie-up. If the clutch bypass valve sticks in the spring-compressed position, the same ratio pattern will occur. This DTC indicates either: SSE mechanically failed on (pressure) or the clutch bypass valve is stuck in spring compressed position. Inspect the clutch bypass valve and bore for contamination or broken return spring. OVERHAUL or INSTALL a new main control as required. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . If no concerns are found in the main control, INSTALL a new SSE.
P0773 Shift Solenoid "E" Electrical SSE electrical faults DTC P0770 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0773 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test E
P0774 Shift Solenoid "E" Intermittent SSE electrical faults CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0774 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test E
P07A5 Transmission Friction Element Stuck On Direct clutch CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07A5 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P07A8 Transmission Friction Element Stuck Off Low/reverse clutch CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07A8 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P07A9 Transmission Friction Element Stuck On Low/reverse clutch DTC P0767 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07A9 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P07AA Transmission Friction Element Stuck Off Overdrive clutch CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07AA returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P07E4 Unable to Engage Park Shift by wire system The shift by wire system commanded Park. After a period of time the TR sensor is valid but does not indicate Park. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The engine will Not Crank and EPB applies when park is selected without the operator requesting EPB apply. REFER to: External Controls .
P07E5 Unable to Engage Drive Shift by wire system The shift by wire system commanded Park. After a period of time the TR sensor is valid but does not indicate Park. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The engine will Not Crank. No drive engagement. REFER to: External Controls .
P07EC Transmission Range Multi-Function Select Circuit TRCM CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07EC returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P07ED Transmission Range Multi-Function Select Circuit Stuck TR multi-function select circuit stuck CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07ED returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P07F2 Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit TRCM CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07F2 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P07F3 Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit Low TRCM CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07F3 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P07F4 Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit High TRCM CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07F4 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P07F5 Transmission Range Control Module System Voltage Low TRCM system voltage low CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P07F5 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0815 Upshift Switch Circuit Upshift switch electrical CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0815 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0816 Downshift Switch Circuit Downshift switch electrical CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0816 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P085D Gear Shift Control Module "A" Performance GSM "A" performance If the CAN is down, the transmission will not shift into a forward or reverse gear. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The EPB applies without operator request. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P085D returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0861 Gear Shift Control Module "A" Communication Circuit Low GSM "A" communication circuit low If the CAN is down, the transmission will not shift into a forward or reverse gear. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The EPB applies without operator request. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0861 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0862 Gear Shift Control Module "A" Communication Circuit High GSM "A" communication circuit high If the CAN is down, the transmission will not shift into a forward or reverse gear. The wrench light will illuminate and a INVALID GEAR SELECTION message is displayed in the message center. The EPB applies without operator request. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0862 returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P0867 Transmission Fluid Pressure Transmission hydraulic and clutch systems CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0867 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0882 TCM Power Input Signal Low TCM power input signal low INSPECT the PCM power and ground circuits for opens or short to ground. INSPECT the PCM connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0882 returns, REFER to: Charging System - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS) .
P0883 TCM Power Input Signal High TCM power input signal high CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0883 returns, REFER to: Charging System - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS) .
P0960 Line Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit/Open LPC solenoid electrical faults DTC P0748 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0960 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test I

P0973 Shift Solenoid "A" Control Circuit Low SSA electrical faults DTC P0753 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0973 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test A
P0974 Shift Solenoid "A" Control Circuit High SSA electrical faults DTC P0748 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0974 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test A
P0976 Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Low SSB electrical faults DTC P0758 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0976 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test B

P0982 Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit Low SSD electrical faults DTC P0768 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0982 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test D
P0983 Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit High SSD electrical faults DTC P0768 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0983 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test D
P0984 Shift Solenoid "E" Range/Performance SSE electrical faults DTC P0771 and/or P0772 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0984 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0A3F Drive Motor "A" Position Sensor Circuit Shift by wire system CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P0A3F returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P1001 KOEO Not Able to Complete, KOER Aborted PCM RETRIEVE and RECORD all DTCs. REPAIR any self-test or CMDTCs first. CLEAR the DTC. RERUN the KOER self-test. If the DTC returns, REPROGRAM the PCM to the latest software. RERUN the KOER self-test. If the DTC returns, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS). After installing the new PCM PROGRAM it with the latest software and PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
P1397 System Voltage Out Of Self Test Range System voltage out of self test range INSPECT the PCM power and ground circuits for opens or short to ground. INSPECT the PCM connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires. CLEAR the DTC. RUN the KOEO self-test. If DTC P1397 returns, REFER to: Charging System - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS) .
P1501 Vehicle Speed Sensor Out Of Self Test Range VSS Vehicle speed not at 0.0mph (km/h) during the KOEO and/or KOER self-test. CLEAR the DTC and RERUN the KOEO and KOER self-test. If DTC P1501 returns, REFER to: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
P1636 Inductive Signature Chip Communication Error PCM CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P1636 returns, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS). After installing the new PCM PROGRAM it with the latest software and PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
P163E Transmission Control Module Programming Error Transmission control module programming error CLEAR the DTC. REPROGRAM the original PCM with the latest software. If DTC P163E returns, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS). After installing the new, PROGRAM it with the latest software and PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
P163F Transmission ID Block Corrupted, Not Programmed Transmission ID memory block corrupted, not programmed CLEAR the DTC. REPROGRAM the original PCM with the latest software. If DTC P163F returns, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS). After installing the new PCM PROGRAM it with the latest software and PERFORM the Transmission Strategy Download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
P164E Internal Control Module Transmission Range Performance TR Transmission may not shift from Park with a flashing P button. The EPB is applied without operator request. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P164E returns, REFER to: External Controls .
P166B Drivers Door Status Correlation Drivers door ajar Open then close the drivers door and cycle the door locks. If the door ajar icon is illuminated on the IPC and the door lock and unlock are not working correctly, REFER to: Locks, Latches and Entry Systems . If the door ajar and locks are working correctly, REFER to: External Controls .
P1702 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Intermittent TR sensor electrical faults DTC P0706, P0707 and/or P0708 may set, CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P1702 returns, GO to Pinpoint Test J
P1705 Transmission Range Circuit Not Indicating Park/Neutral During Self Test TR sensor The selector lever was not in park or neutral during the self-test. CLEAR the DTC and RERUN the KOEO and KOER self-test.
P1711 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Out Of Self Test Range TFT sensor CLEAR the DTC and RERUN the KOEO and KOER self-test.
P1744 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Performance TCC system faults (includes TCC, main control valve body and non-electrical solenoid faults) DTC P1744 is a non electrical DTC. CLEAR the DTC. If DTC P1744 returns, REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom .
P175B TRCM Shift Cable Disconnected / Mis-adjusted Shift by wire system The shift by wire system commanded a range change and at the end of the movement the TR sensor is reading a valid state but detected an incorrect range.
