Auxiliary Climate Control: Notes
Overview
An auxiliary climate control system is available as optional equipment. The auxiliary climate control system operation is determined by the settings on the front climate controls on the FDIM touch screen or rear auxiliary climate controls on the RHVAC module. The driver has primary control of the auxiliary climate control system or can transfer control to the rear passenger control panel.
The rear passenger climate controls are located on the rear of the center console. It includes a fan control knob, heated seat buttons (if equipped), cooled seat buttons (if equipped), a temperature control knob, air distribution control buttons, an auto button, and a rear climate control lock button which are only serviced as an assembly.
The auxiliary blower motor speed control, auxiliary in-vehicle temperature sensor, auxiliary mode door actuator and the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator are hard wired to the HVAC control module. When a selection has been made on the rear climate control panel, known as the Rear Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning(RHVAC) module, a message is sent to the HVAC control module over the MS-CAN.
Auxiliary blower motor operation is enabled when the HVAC system is in any mode except OFF. The auxiliary climate control system air can only be cooled below interior air temperature when A/C compressor operation has been requested by the settings of the climate control assembly of the base (front) system. The auxiliary climate control system air can be heated at any time.
The auxiliary climate control housing is located on the LH side of the vehicle between the side windows and the floorpan, behind the rear wheel well.
All of the auxiliary climate control system components are serviceable from the inside of the vehicle except the lines.
