DESCRIPTION
The design of the idle switch has been changed for the 1985 626. To simplify the idle switch adjustment, follow the procedure below.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
- Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature and run it at idle. (The fan should run at least once)
- Pull the canister 2" upward and remove the canister from the mount. Do not remove the hoses from the canister.
- Lay the canister out of the way below the intake manifold.
- Connect a tachometer.
- Connect a voltmeter to the idle switch terminals as shown.
- Increase the engine speed to above 2,000 rpm and then decelerate gradually.
- Record the reading of the voltmeter. At idle approximately 12V Above 1200-1300 rpm below 1.5V If the readings do not agree with the above specifications, turn the adjusting screw.
- Reinstall the canister.
