DESCRIPTION

The design of the idle switch has been changed for the 1985 626. To simplify the idle switch adjustment, follow the procedure below.

Canister Location:




ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

1. Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature and run it at idle. (The fan should run at least once)

2. Pull the canister 2" upward and remove the canister from the mount. Do not remove the hoses from the canister.

3. Lay the canister out of the way below the intake manifold.

Adjusting Screw and LgR Locations:




4. Connect a tachometer.

5. Connect a voltmeter to the idle switch terminals as shown.

6. Increase the engine speed to above 2,000 rpm and then decelerate gradually.

7. Record the reading of the voltmeter.


At idle approx. 12V

Above 1,200-1,300 rpm below 1.5V

If the readings do not agree with the above specifications, turn the adjusting screw.

8. Reinstall the canister.
