Cruise Control Systems: Adjustments
- To test cruise control unit, fix rear wheels and jack up and support front end. Turn ignition on. Connect negative voltmeter probe to terminal M and positive probe to terminals D through N. Start engine and turn main switch on. Increase vehicle speed to about 30 MPH and push "SET" button. Check A, B, and C terminals by connecting negative voltmeter probe to terminal M and positive probe to A, B, and C. SeeFig 1 .
- Terminal F should always read 12 volts. Terminals I, J, and K should read about 12 volts, except when turning "SET" switch (terminal K) to arrow direction. In this situation, voltage should drop to 0 volts and return to 12 volts when switch is released.
- Terminal E should read 12 volts when depressing clutch or brake pedal. Terminal N should read 12 volts only when depressing brake pedal. Terminal D (automatic transmission) should read 12 volts except when shifting to "P" or "N", when voltage should be 0.
- Terminal B should read 12 volts except when "SET" button is pushed, when it should be 0. Terminal A should respond same way when "COAST" is turned to arrow direction. Terminal C should respond same way when clutch pedal is depressed.
- To test terminal H, stop engine and remove speedometer cable from transaxle. Turn ignition on. Rotate inner cable by hand. Voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 12 volts.
