Idle Switch

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run engine at idle speed. Connect tachometer to engine. Connect Multimeter or Megameter to idle switch terminal Lt. Brown wire terminal.
  2. Increase engine speed to greater than 2000 RPM. Decelerate gradually. While at idle reading should be 12 volts. With engine speed at 1000-1200 RPM, reading should be less than 1.5 volt.
  3. If reading is not as specified, turn idle switch adjustment screw to adjust. If proper readings cannot be obtained, replace switch.
