Function Test

  1. Manufacturers service tool, ACC Tester (49 9200 010) may be used to check all models. Actuators on turbocharged models can be tested with an ohmmeter only. When checking actuator on models with automatic transmission, the ACC tester MUST be modified to avoid damage to the Overdrive control unit.
  2. To modify tester, cut wire at terminal No. 6 of ACC tester connector and tape the end. See Figure .
  3. The main switch, actuator-VAC, actuator-VENT 2, actuator-VENT 1, clutch/brake switch, combination/inhibitor switch (automatic transaxle models), and generator operation are verified by lights on tester. Tester has a check switch and a slide switch.
  4. Check switch tests actuator operation with engine running. When switch is held in the "ON" position with engine running, engine speed is increased to and held at 2000-3000 RPM. If RPM does not increase, ensure actuator cable freeplay is correct. Slide switch should be in the "L" position. Follow test chart for ACC tester. See Fig 1 .
NOTE: When installing ACC tester, turn ignition and main switch off. When performing all testing steps, main and ignition switches must be in "ON" position. Signal generator light can be either "ON" or "OFF" during testing.
