Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Throttle Sensor Testing:

NOTE: This test requires a high impedance volt-ohmmeter, Mazda Special Service Tools (SST) or aftermarket "Scan" tool equipment that will read ECU terminal voltages.

1. Warm engine to operating temperature and switch ignition "OFF."
2. Connect Mazda Engine Signal Monitor (SST #49 9200 162) between ECU and vehicle wiring harness using connector "B" of adapter harness (SST #49 G018 903).
3. Place 64-pin side of sheet (SST #49 G018 904) on Signal Monitor.
4. Switch ignition "ON" and check ECU terminal voltages as described on image chart.
5. If not as specified, adjust throttle sensor. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES. If still not correct after adjustment, replace sensor.
