Vehicle Speed Sensor: 4-Cylinder

  1. Remove instrument cluster. Connect ohmmeter across appropriate terminals of printed circuit connector and check continuity. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. SeeFig 1 and Fig 2 .
  2. Insert a screwdriver into speedometer cable receptacle and rotate receptacle. If continuity is not present 4 times per revolution, replace speedometer. If continuity is present 4 times per revolution, check wiring between instrument cluster and cruise control unit. Repair or replace as necessary.

NOTE: If speedometer operates, vehicle speed sensor is okay.
