EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

OUTPUT VOLTAGE INSPECTION

SST-49 9200 162 Engine Signal Monitor, SST-49 G018 903 Adapter Harness:

1. Connect the special service tools (SST)s to the powertrain control module engine (PCME) as shown in image.

View: Testing The EGR Function Sensor:

2. Connect a vacuum pump to EGR control valve.

EGR Function Sensor Operating Voltages:

3. Turn ignition ON (engine OFF) and measure voltage as shown on image chart.
4. If not correct, check wiring harness from sensor to PCME.

RESISTANCE INSPECTION

View: Testing EGR Function Sensor Resistances:

1. Unplug sensor connector. Disconnect vacuum hose and connect vacuum pump.
2. Measure resistance between terminals with vacuum applied, as shown on image chart:
3. If not as specified, replace EGR control valve assembly.
