Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Informs PCME that transmission is either in neutral or any other gear. Input is used in PCME calculations for fuel injection quantity, idle speed, A/C cut-off, purge control, and ignition timing.

LOCATION
Right side of transmission.

OPERATION
This is an ON/OFF switch. When transmission is in neutral, switch is ON (shows continuity). In any other gear, switch is OFF (no continuity).
