Steering Angle Sensor (1995)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mazda Millenia and 1995 Mazda Millenia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Steering angle sensor is part of combination switch. If steering angle sensor is defective, replace combination switch.
WARNING:
To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all WARNINGS and SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. See STEERING COLUMN
article.
- Turn ignition off. Remove combination switch. See STEERING COLUMN article. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to terminal "A" and ground terminal "F" at combination switch connector. See Figure .
- Connect an ohmmeter between ground and terminal "B" at combination switch connector. Turn clockspring clockwise then counterclockwise and note resistance. Resistance should switch from 50 ohms to 13 k/ohms every time steering angle sensor rotates 6 degrees. If resistance is not as specified, replace combination switch.
